17^TH ANNUAL MEET OF KOTTARAKARA COLLEGE RETIRED TEACHERS

17^th Annual meet of Kottarakara St. Gregorios College Retired Teachers Association was held on 21^st September,2017 at Pulamon Eat and Drink Hotel.The meeting was begun at 10.30 A.M. ProfK.G Mathew inaugurated the meet. Dr. Jacob John presided. Prof.G Jacob welcomed the members who participated. Prof. T. Babukutty,Prof. Johnson,Prof. Nirmala Mathew, Prof.John Kurakar, Prof Leelamma Samuel, Prof. K.O Johnson, Prof. P.A Mathew, Prof. K.J Cherian, Prof. V. K Mathew ,Prof. George Thomas Dr. P.K Jose Kutty, Prof. John Scaria were spoke on the occasion. Oath taking ceremony was at12 P.M.Dr. P.K JoseKutty, and Dr. John Scaria inducted as new members of the association. Prof. K.G Mathew and Prof. T.G Rajan distributed karunya Education Scholarships to two degree students in St. Gregorios College (Rs.5000-00 each) Prof. V.K Mathew expressed vote of thanks.

KOTTARAKARA SG COLLEGE ART REGIONAL STUDY PROGRAMME-2017 AT VARKALA

Kottarakara St. Gregorios CollegeART( Association of Retired Teachers)conducted this year’s-2017 Regional study program on 12^th and 13^th of May,2017 at Varkala. Varkala is an important place as far as Kerala Geology. Varkala Beach is world famous, also known as Papanasham Beach . Varkala is an International Tourism and pilgrim destination in Thiruvananthapuram district (South of Kerala State). About 50000 Foreign and 1.60 lakh domestic tourists visit Varkala every year. The great social reformer Sree Narayanaguru’s Samadhi is situated (nearly 10 lakhs pilgrims visit the samati every year) in Sivagiri Varkala. About 4 lakh pilgrims come to Varkala Papanasam beach every year during vavubali days for doing rituals for their departed souls. Vavu Bali is an annual day for Hindu rituals for their departed souls. An emerald story of Varkala is pretty incomplete without a description of Varkala tunnel which is popularly renowned as Varkala thurappu. The tunnel has its historic connection with the brain of British and it was wisdom of colonials which was ideally conceived and realized by Divan sir T Mahadeva Rao of Travancore. The construction of the tunnel started in late 18th century and it took almost 14 years to complete. Its official inauguration was held in the year 1880 during the time of Diwan Shesaya Shastri. Kottarakara college ART members visited Sree Narayanaguru’s Samadhi, Papanasham Beach and varkala, Varkala aquarium .

KOTTARAKARA COLLEGE ART ANNUAL CAMP AT KUTTIKANAM-2016

KOTTARAKARA ST.GREGORIOS COLLEGE ART CONDUCTTTED TWO DAYS ANNUAL CAMP AT KUTTIKANAM

Association of Retired Teachers (ART) of St. Gregorios College conducted this year’s (2016) annual two days camp at KUttikanam Thrisangu Heaven on 27^th and 28 February,2016.36 members participated. The members reached Kuttikanam at 12.30 p.m ON 27^th February. The preliminary session was begun at Paruthumpara, the tourist center at 4.30 P.M. The Night session of the ART meeting was held at 6.30 P.M at the resort open auditorium.The organizing committee arranged a camp fire also. The official meeting of the Association members was held at the resort seminar hall on 28^th February morning at 8.30. Prof. Babu Kutty, Former president inaugurated Dr. Jacob John, president presided. Prof. G. Jacob, Secretary welcomed the members.
